The green and yellow parrot,
the green and saffron parrot,
called me “ugly” with its twangy voice
and satanic beak.
I am not ugly, because if I were ugly,
then ugly is my mother who looks like
the sun,
ugly is the light my mother looks into,
and ugly is the wind that carries her
voice,
and ugly is the water into which she
falls
and ugly is the world and He who nurtured
it.
The green and yellow parrot,
the green and sunflower parrot
called me ~ugly" because it had not eaten,
and I bring it bread with wine,
but I am already tired of gazing at it,
always hanging on, always a sunflower.
