it is the truth, not a fairytale:
there is a Guardian Angel
who takes you and carries you
like the wind
and follows children wherever they go.
He has soft hair
that flutters in the breeze,
sweet and serious eyes
that calm you with a glance,
killing fears and conjuring light.
(This is not a fairytale. It is true.)
He has a body, hands and winged feet,
six wings to fly or glide;
and these six wings
carry you through whirlwinds,
and likewise, shuttle you off to sleep.
He makes sweeter the ripe pulp
that your honey-fed lips crush;
he cracks the nut’s sly shell,
and it is he who frees you
from gnomes and witches.
He helps you snip roses
seated in thorny traps;
he is the one who eases your way
through dangerous waters,
the one who helps you climb
prickly pine hills.
And although he walks along with you
making a pair,
a sweet cherry and its vermilion twin,
when with his sign, he places upon you
the gauge of sin,
he picks up your soul, leaving the body behind,
It is the truth, not a fairytale:
There is a Guardian Angel
Who takes you and carries you
Like the wind
And follows children wherever they go.
