CLOSE TO ME

Tender floss of my flesh

that I wove in my deep organs;

tender floss so easily chilled:

Sleep, close to me!

The partridge sleeps in clover,

listening to its heart beat.

Don't let my breathing disturb you:

Sleep, close to me'.

Tiny, trembling herb

surprised by life

Don't leap from my breast:

Sleep, close to me!

I who have lost everything,

now shudder with thoughts of sleep.

Don't slip from my arms:

Sleep, close to me!
